Why did I start Lux Electrical Devon Ltd?
After 17 years working for One of North Devon’s biggest and best Electrical contractors I decided my employed life had to come to an end and the time had come to venture out to provide the 1st class service I had provided to many whilst employed. The dream was to build a business/company that I could one day pass onto my son Teddy or Daughter Nancy.
Why the fox logo?
My son Teddy was 5 at the time of me choosing to go self employed and when asked he decided the business would be called “electric fox” because his class at school was called Foxes. Teddy’s mum Lauren created the amazing logo and design that is fast becoming one of North Devon’s well known brands.
When did my electrical journey begin?
I began my apprenticeship with an electrical contractor in North Devon who had the biggest reputation for bringing young lads from school and growing them into 1st class electricians. I started as an apprentice on £80 a week and progressed rapidly though the system and ended up as Contracts manager and QS which was an amazing achievement to which I’ll always be proud of. I trained multiple apprentices over my 17 year employment and most of these guys remain to be great friends to this day.
Who do I owe my trade too?
The two guys who I owe the most too are Mark and Marcel, these two guys took me under their wings from 15 years of age and taught me everything I know. I still ask advice from both of them to this day but the tables have started to turn now and I’m now starting to answer the questions (with Marcel at least). The bosses Paul, Gary and Aaron allowed me to become the electrician I am today and I will always be thankful for the opportunities they gave me and the friendships old and new that came off the back of these opportunities.
